A Note from the Principal
Dear Roosevelt Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing and fun spring break! It is so crazy to think that we have 9 weeks of school left this year.. The time is going to fly by!
Forward Exam testing will be taking place throughout the month of April for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Please avoid scheduling appointments for your son or daughter during their testing dates/times if at all possible. Feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you need specific testing times for a specific day. Students will do practice tests with their teachers ahead of time. The best preparation for them is to continue to learn at school. At home, help to ensure your student gets a good night's sleep before testing and eats breakfast. A more detailed letter was sent home to families on March 12th. The general testing schedule is as follows:
-
3rd Grade: April 4-8
-
4th Grade: April 11-20
-
5th Grade: April 11-14
Sincerely,
Kristin Burgert

“The Roosevelt Way” Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe
Social Skills
Our theme for March included caring for others and what makes a good friend. The weekly lessons covered strategies to make others feel cared for and included, along with identifying ways to be a good friend and have their back. Continuing to be a good friend to others along with making them feel important/seen were further explored in the classroom throughout the month of March.
Mash - Up
Our March Mash Up lesson allowed us to identify traits that we love about ourselves. We discussed affirmations which empowered students to feel worthy and able to do difficult things. Groups read the story “I Am Enough,” in which a girl used “self-talk” to identify positive statements about herself which helped her to believe she is worth it. Then, each student was given an affirmation to color or a blank sheet of paper for the student to write their own affirmation. They were to place this in a spot that makes sense for them to read when needed.
Next Month’s Theme: Tone of Voice to Adults
Student of the Month
Congratulations to February's students of the month. These students are role models that fellow students look up to each and every day. They are following the Roosevelt Way inside and outside of the classroom by being respectful, responsible, and safe. Thank you for being leaders in our school!
