A Note from the Principal
Dear Roosevelt Families,
It is finally March, which means spring is on the way!
Spring break this year will fall during the last week of March beginning on Saturday, March 21 - Sunday, March 29. School will resume on Monday, March 30th. We hope you all have a restful, fun, and relaxing spring break!
A peek ahead into April as we have a lot going on and March is a pretty quiet month for activities and events...
Forward Exam testing will begin a week after spring break on April 3rd with 5th grade, then 3rd grade and finishing up with 4th grade. The general testing dates for each grade are listed below for any planning needs you and your family may have. Please avoid scheduling appointments for your son or daughter during their testing times if at all possible. Students will do a practice of the test with their teachers ahead of time. The best preparation for them is to continue to learn at school. At home, please help to ensure your student gets a good night's sleep before testing and eats breakfast. As we get closer to the testing period, more details will be sent home. The general testing schedule is as follows:
-
5th grade: April 3 - April 9
-
3rd Grade: April 13 - April 17
-
4th grade: April 20 - April 27
Our spring family night will take place on April 20th from 5-6:30pm. Families will be participating in a STEM (Science, technology, engineering and math) activity with us! Keep your eye out after spring break for more information and an RSVP form to turn back in if you are able to attend. It should be a fun and engaging evening just like last year!
Sincerely,
Kristin Burgert

Lost and Found

"The Roosevelt Way"
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe
Social Skills
We continued to learn about being respectful to each other. The focus was on being a bucket filler. Bucket Filling helped students understand their actions and words affect those around them. To further understand how words affect people, we practiced using a tone of voice to make those around us feel safe.
Student of the Month
Each month Roosevelt staff nominate students who are following the Roosevelt Way for “Student of the Month” awards. Congratulations to the following students who earned the honor in January: Emily, Violet, Sophia Davil, Lawson, Kayberlina, Malikai, Caroline, Isaiah, Weston, Marshall, Tenley, and Miliania.
Family Beep Bucks
When a parent participates in any school activity, he/she can earn a family beep buck and turn it into the office or teacher. This quarter you can win a Walmart gift. Winner will be chosen at the end of the quarter.
All School Celebrations
The next whole school celebration will take place on Friday, March 6 from 8:30 - 9:30. It will start with a raffle and end with BINGO in the gym.
Roosevelt School Breakfast
Roosevelt will be serving breakfast in the gym before school starts.
Breakfast starts at 7:15 am and serves until 7:35 am. If your child will be dining with us in the morning, please have them arrive BEFORE 7:30 am so they have enough time to eat their breakfast before the school bell rings at 7:40 am.
If your student will NOT be eating breakfast, please drop them off on the playground at 7:30 am. Breakfast is done being served at 7:35 am.
Cold and Flu Season
Cold and flu season is here and we would like to remind you of a few items:
-
Good hand-washing is very important to limit the spread of illness.
-
Cover your coughs and sneezes.
-
Drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest.
-
If your student has a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, they must be home symptom-free for 48 hours before returning to school.
Please refer to our Illness and Communicable Disease memo if you have further questions regarding your student’s illness. (453.3 Exhibit B)
